Sarasota Mold Removal Co. handles mold removal across Sarasota and Manatee counties, working one problem: Gulf Coast humidity that indoor equipment isn't removing. Every job starts with a free inspection and ends with a written scope carrying fixed prices per line.
How we scope work
Measurement first, then a recommendation, then a price — in that order, every time. Moisture meters define what's actually wet, a hygrometer defines whether the house is running above the threshold where growth is possible, and photographs document both. Where the readings don't justify remediation, the report says to buy a dehumidifier and check back. A company that never declines work isn't measuring anything.
Removal, not treatment
EPA guidance is direct on this and we follow it: the job is physically removing the mold and the porous material it colonized, inside containment, with HEPA filtration. Mold does not need to be alive to cause a problem, so killing it and leaving it in place doesn't finish the job. We don't sell fogging, ozone, or antimicrobial spraying as a substitute for removal, and we'll tell you plainly when a competing bid is built on one.
Where Florida's licensing rules come in
Florida licenses mold assessors and mold remediators as separate credentials through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and state law restricts the same party from performing both assessment and remediation on one project. That exists so the company sizing the job isn't the company paid by its size.
Two practical consequences. First, when a situation genuinely calls for an independent assessment — a health question, a transaction, a dispute — we'll tell you to get one rather than writing our own protocol. Second: verify the license of whoever you hire, us included, on the DBPR site. It takes two minutes and it's the best consumer protection this trade offers.
What we tell people before they hire anyone
- Ask what your indoor relative humidity is. If a bidder didn't measure it, they haven't diagnosed anything in this climate.
- Confirm containment is included. Removal without negative air spreads the problem — it's a standard step, not an upgrade.
- Ask whether rebuild is in or out of the number you're comparing.
- Be skeptical of testing every visible patch. If you can see it and know the water source, a lab result usually doesn't change the work.
- Look up the license. DBPR, two minutes, every time.
How we work in the field
Containment goes up before anything is disturbed, air scrubbers run through the work and after it, and drying is tracked with daily readings against a dry standard taken from unaffected material in the same house. You get the moisture log, stage photographs, and the documentation an adjuster or a future buyer's inspector will want. Access routes and what we're opening are named in the scope before anyone starts.
